About us

Founded in 1962 by Jacques Marais, the creator of the trenching wheel and mechanical laying, Marais, Tesmec Group Company, headquarter based in France in Durtal (49), designs, manufactures, distributes and rents wheel and chain trenchers for underground utilities construction.

Joining the Tesmec Group in 2015, a company listed on the Italian stock exchange with a turnover of €250 million and 1,000 employees, one of the global leaders in construction equipment, Marais has further strengthened its legitimacy and distribution network.

Marais’s machines are used on all types of ground (ie. roads, highways, airport runways, etc.). Specially designed to adapt to each typology of project, our solutions deliver fast, economical, precise and quality results. With more than 60 years of experience, Marais, Tesmec Group Company, has become the undisputed leader in the techniques of mechanical laying in Europe and Worldwide. The mechanical laying specialist

Created in 1962 by the company's founder, Jacques Marais, the mechanical laying allows for simultaneous trenching and network deployment.

This technology employs a laying box that guides the cable or pipe for installation in the trench while maintaining the curvature radius.

The mechanical laying offers several benefits:

Reduced Deployment Cost: A significant reduction in construction costs (up to -40%) for a quicker return on investment.

Quicker and Simplified Deployment: A rapid deployment from 400 m/day in hard soil to 2500 m/day in soft soil, speeding up network commissioning and the collection of initial revenues, as well as optimizing staff deployment on site, reducing the footprint on the project and the area to be restored.

Higher Safety on Site: The personnel is no longer required to enter the trench for network positioning

Quality Work: A quality solution allowing precise positioning of cables or pipes, sand bed and warning grid.

Better Environmental Impact: Fewer construction vehicles, reduction of the volume of wrapping and backfilling material to be compacted.

Marais, Tesmec Group Company, is not only a specialist in underground network construction and excavation; it is also a designer and manufacturer of innovative trenchers and solutions provider.

The numerous feedback and experience gained on construction sites for years, along with the understanding of our customers' needs, enable us to constantly adapt and improve our equipment.

Thanks to an integrated mechanical, hydraulic and electrical engineering office of about ten people, Marais, Tesmec Group Company, optimize the production and efficiency of the machines, reduce operating costs, and develop new solutions.

Our industrial capabilities enable us to manufacture a wide range of machines and accessories proposed for sale or rental, with the guidance and technical support of an extensive dedicated commercial network both within France and abroad.

International

Half of Marais’s activity is deployed internationally.

For decades, the company has had activities in Africa (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Ivory Coast, South Africa), in Americas, Asia, and Oceania (Australia, New Zealand). For over 60 years, Marais, Tesmec Group Company, has significantly contributed to numerous projects worldwide through the sale and rental of its solutions.

Thanks to our affiliation with the Tesmec group in 2015, we have strengthened its presence on all continents.

Marais designs, manufactures, markets and rents wheel trenchers, chain trenchers and micro-trenchers for network construction (telecoms, electricity, gas, water) and earthworks.
